Assignments include:
Planning for a new early-stage venture capital fund
Our client wanted to explore options for investment into a new funding cycle that could support new, technology-based ventures from university research and spin-outs from other businesses. Blue Sky was commissioned to consult with partners to determine a basis upon which partners could most effectively pool resources and maximise leveraged investment from public and private sources. Blue Sky used an options review technique to help define a concept that partners could support and then built an interactive model that provided an indicative assessment of investment cost, risk and returns. The model was assembled around an assumptions ‘dashboard’ so that partners could readily test the likely outcome of changes to a variety of factors including pricing, investment terms and risk profile.

Bids for fund management contracts
Blue Sky has helped a number of FCA accredited fund managers to successfully secure contracts with the Midland Engine and Northern Powerhouse Investment Funds by supporting the development of reliable competitive fee models and the drafting of submissions that could effectively demonstrate their expertise in the market.

Ex-Ante Assessments for Financial Instruments
Blue Sky has worked with 19 of the 38 Local Enterprise Partnerships in England, to undertake Ex-Ante Assessments for new financial instruments. An Ex-Ante Assessment is an evaluative approach that uses empirical market evidence to weigh up SME access to finance priorities and test options available to partners that can include the development of new funds to supply microloans, larger debt or equity finance. Blue Sky has worked on single, standalone-funds and large, Limited Partnership based fund-of-funds models, both in evergreen and fixed term structures. We have developed complex multi-level financial models that factor in private and public investment that have been used to test and demonstrate the viability of scenarios for sensitivities on price, return, scale, term and management cost. Blue Sky’s corporate finance expertise means that we are well placed to understand prevailing market conditions for UK SME finance. We are familiar with Government drivers and the many technical issues that are corollary to them including; the application of State Aid regulations, fund manager procurement and ‘entrusted entity’ options and controls, commercial leverage and multi-level integrated financial modelling.

We have the experience, knowledge and commitment to ensure the successful delivery of your project regardless of its complexities.  Call or email us for a confidential, no obligation chat.
