Valuations Lecture

Paul Heaven, the founder of Blue Sky Corporate Finance, delivered a lecture on the subject of “Share Valuations – it’s all a question of perspective” to the Alumni of Warwick University on 29 June 2010.

The presentation covered the subject of the valuation of shares in private companies from 3 perspectives:-

  • Fiscal (tax) The fiscal valuation section covered approved share option schemes, probate, inheritance tax, transfer of assets abroad, capital gains tax and employment income.
  • Dispute Resolution The dispute resolution section covered litigation, compulsory share transfer, death, illness of key shareholders, divorce, earn-outs, shareholder disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency.
  • Commercial Valuation for Acquisitions, Disposals and Investments The commercial valuations section covered: raising new equity funds, mergers and acquisitions, disposals, mbo, mbi, capital reconstructions and security.
