Case in Point Scenario:
Company X was a young fast growing business, in a sector which had suffered during the recession, but was still run solely by the owner, whose time was being taken up more and more by operational matters, rather than strategic decisions and marketing the business. The company’s books were still handwritten and management information was very limited. Blue Sky was appointed as mentors and one of the key priorities identified was the recruitment of an Operations Manager. Some basic financial forecasts had been prepared to ensure the Company could withstand the additional cost. This freed up the Owner’s time enabling him to concentrate on growing the business, and focus on giving a more professional image to the outside world. The second issue was the accounting system and it was agreed that a Sage package would be appropriate. Blue Sky worked with the company to design their accounts system such that it would provide the key management information required by the Director directly from the monthly management accounts.
